Margaret “Peg” Ellen (Richter) Kiernan, age 61, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 6th, 2021 after a brief illness, with her son and twin sister by her side.

Peg was born January 20th, 1960 at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA, the daughter of the late Edwin and Margaret (Wright) Richter of Acton.

Peg attended Acton Public Schools, and graduated from Acton Boxborough Regional High School, Class of 1978. After graduating, Peg worked for Avis Car Rental, Ralph Jordan Textiles, and later the Special Ed Resourse Center. Peg married Mark Kiernan in 1989 in Connecticut, and has resided there since.

One of Peg’s greatest loves and accomplishments was raising her son Ryan. Despite being visually impaired she also enjoyed various arts and crafts including quilting, calligraphy, and card making. Family and friends always looked forward to receiving her handmade cards, whether they were for Christmas, a birthday, special occasion, or just a simple thank you. She always took great pride in crafting each card with incredible detail and love.

In addition to her son Ryan, Peg is survived by her siblings, John and his wife Jani of Oak Grove, OR, Stephen and his wife Patricia of Leydan, MA, Brian and his wife Karen of Littleton,MA, Paul of Caratunk, ME, and her twin sister Dorothy “Dorry” Swain and her husband David of Shirley,MA, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
