Obituary

Margaret “Duchy” (Adams) Garlow, a resident of Peabody, formerly of Acton and Westford, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021. She would have celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, April 4th. She was the beloved wife of the late Glenn D. Garlow who passed away in 2001.

Mrs. Garlow was born and raised in Elizabethtown, KY in 1921 to the late Sellie Preston and Luella (Spencer) Adams. She attended Blue Mountain College and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology. Following World War II, Margaret moved to Washington DC. It was there that she met her beloved Glenn while attending church. They were married on October 22, 1949. The Garlows made their home in Lexington, MA followed by Bristol, TN and Acton, Westford and finally Peabody MA. Margaret was an ardent bridge player as well as a voracious reader, both of which she enjoyed well into her 99th year.

Mrs. Garlow is lovingly survived by her two sons, Kip D. Garlow and his wife Sandra, and David A. Garlow and his wife Gretchen. She was the loving grandmother of Stephanie, Kimberly, Douglas, Joseph and Charles Garlow and great grandchild, Maia. She also leaves a sister Evelyn Ramsey, her nieces Jackie Hernandez, Adrian Berry, Linda Ramsey and their families and one nephew, Charles Ramsey and his family. Sadly, in addition to her husband, Margaret was predeceased by her brothers Brooks and Gilbert Adams.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 3 at 11:00am at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Road, Acton. Pastor Rich Knight will officiate. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Central Congregational Church, 1 Worthen St, Chelmsford, MA 01824 or to a charity of one's choice in Margaret’s memory.
