Obituary for William T. "Billy" Howes

William T. "Billy" Howes of Westford, MA, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. He was 57 years old.

The son of the late John F' "Jack" Howes who died in 2013, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Cheri V. (Gilmore) Howes and their son John W. Howes, both of Westford; his step-son Matthew Vaillancourt of Fitchburg; his mother Lorraine E. (Cuddy) Howes of Florida; 6 brothers and sisters: John "Jack" Howes and wife Cindy of Shirley, MA, Denise Sawyer and husband Ray of Acton, MA, Edward Howes and wife Cindy of Hudson, MA, Janice Howes of Lancaster, MA, Diane Howes Cooke and husband Tom of Deep Run, NC, and Laura Luker of Edgewater, FL; his lifelong, best friend Lonnie Shorette of Maynard; and many, many nieces, nephews and their families.

Born in Concord and raised in Maynard, MA, Billy attended the Maynard schools and was a graduate of Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School in Marlborough, MA. Bill was employed for over 30 years with Milton Cat in Milford, MA; first as a heavy equipment operator and more recently as a sales representative. He lived in Leominster for a short time before moving with this wife and family to Maynard, then resided in Pepperell for 18 years prior to a recent move to Westford.

Billy loved NHRA drag racing and NASCAR, and was a football fan. He appreciated his co-workers at Milton Cat, and especially enjoyed time with family and friends, attending races and family gatherings. His family was most grateful to have spent time with him last week, celebrating his son John's graduation from high school. He will be deeply missed by all.

Due to current restrictions on the size of gatherings for funerals, the service at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Acton, MA and burial with his father in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard, MA are private.
