Family, friends and colleagues mourn the death of William Robert (Bob) Davis, Jr who died September 1, 2023 from cancer related complications. He was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his death.



Bob was born in Orange, New Jersey on August 27, 1947, but spent most of his childhood in Yonkers, NY where he became an Eagle Scout and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He earned a BS in Engineering from Lehigh University then a Masters and Doctorate in Aeronautic and Astronautic Engineering from MIT. After serving four years in the US Air Force, retiring as a Captain, Bob joined MIT’s Lincoln Laboratory where he enjoyed a 43-year career, retiring in 2020 as Assistant Head of the Engineering Division.



Bob loved to travel, hike, ski, garden, and work on his classic Fiat and Corvette. He was an accomplished pilot and loved flying his aerobatic airplane. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend and never missed a family wedding or graduation. He is survived by his four brothers and their families and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
