Obituary for Sophie Hannon
Sophie Irene (Wasiuk) Hannon, a lifelong resident of Maynard, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. She had celebrated her 104th birthday just this past month. She was the beloved wife of the late Norman Vincent Hannon Sr. who passed away in 2007.
Sophie was born in Maynard, daughter of the late John and Antonia (Zelukiewicz) Wasiuk. She was a graduate of Maynard High School. She and her husband Norman, made their home in Maynard where they would raise their two sons. She worked for a number of years for Erickson’s Dairy and spent seventeen years working for Raytheon in Sudbury, from where she would eventually retire. She enjoyed reading, watching football and golf. Sophie enjoyed cooking, especially for the whole family at the holidays.
She is lovingly survived by her son Robert F. Hannon of Franklin. Her two granddaughters Tammy Hannon Kocienda and husband Johnathan of West Hartford, CT and Tanya Ann Cloninger of Bend, Oregon as well as two great-grandchildren Cole Kocienda and River Cloninger. She also leaves two nephews Paul and Foster Toohey and two nieces Joan Hatstat and Jaqueline Buterlia. Sadly, she was predeceased by her son Norman V Hannon Jr. in 1995.
Relatives and friends are invited to an hour of visiting on Tuesday, June 13th from 10:00AM-11:00AM. A service will follow at 11:00AM in the funeral home. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Maynard.
