Sarah “Sally” Cotter of Stow, MA, Chatham, MA and formerly of Concord, MA, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2022 at her home in Stow surrounded by her loving family. Sally was the beloved wife of the late Richard (Dick ) Cotter and the mother of Brendan and Suzanne (Glynn) Cotter, Julie (Cotter) and Jonathan Bartlett and Brian and Cydney (Rush) Cotter. She was the proud grandmother of Thomas, Matthew, Suzanne; Bridget, Brexton and (the late) Brody; Liam, Dillon, and Reid (RJ). She is also survived by her sister, Marcia (Gallagher) Brennan, her brother-in-law, Phil Brennan, her niece Jennifer( Brennan) Smith and her nephew Marc Brennan.

Sally was born in Everett, MA to the late Hugh and Catherine Gallagher. She was raised in Somerville and Winchester. She graduated from Emanuel College with a degree in Education. She received her Masters Degree from Boston University and started her teaching career at the Hanscom Air Force Base Elementary School.

After raising her children she returned to teaching for twenty years in the Maynard Public School System. Sally loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved painting with watercolors, gardening, yoga, and reading.

Over the years, Sally and her late husband Dick enjoyed wonderful travel experiences in this country and in Europe. Yet, their favorite destination was their summer home in Chatham spending time with their treasured family including children, grandchildren, friends, and in the last few years her faithful companion Eddie, her dog.

Sally’s family is eternally grateful for all the caring, loving support from her caregiver Veronica, who previously also cared for Sally’s husband, and for the many wonderful friends and individuals who have been there for them.
