Obituary for Roy K. Chalupa

Roy K. Chalupa (Dec. 17, 1961 - Dec. 21, 2022)

Beloved son and brother, Roy Karsten Chalupa of Boxborough MA, passed on December 21 after a long battle with cancer. He was in hospice at Emerson Hospital in Concord and was visited in his final days by friends and family.

Roy attended Fryeburg Academy in Maine and was a 1980 graduate of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School.

Roy had a passion for finish carpentry and homebuilding. He was a respected worker for several Metro West construction crews. But he will be fondly remembered for his quick attention and loyalty to friends in need as well as taking care of his mom after she was widowed.

Roy always had an affinity for "all things historic" and many joked he was born in the wrong century. His love of New Hampshire and all of New England was well known among his friends -- his having lived in and having cared for several 200+ yr-old properties. Roy was also an avid traveler; having taken trips to Europe and Great Britain several times.

He is survived by his mother, Astrid Chalupa Perko, 92, of Boxborough; sisters Jennifer Dowling of Point Lookout NY and Kay Kenney of Marblehead MA. Roy also leaves behind sister-in-law Pat Chalupa of Naples, ME, and brothers-in-law Skip Dowling and Tom Kenney. Roy was blessed with 3 nieces, 3 nephews and 1 grand nephew.

Roy was predeceased by his father Joseph Chalupa and his brother Bret Chalupa.

All are invited to visting hours on Tuesday, December 27th from 5-7PM in the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rte. 111) Acton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 28th at 10AM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Roy's name to Mass General Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital https://www.emersonhospital.org/support-emerson/donate-now
