Obituary for Robert S. Sczerzen

MAYNARD: Robert S. Sczerzen, 74 years of Maynard, MA died peacefully January 11th, 2022 following a brief illness.

Born in Maynard, he was the son of the late Michael Stanley Sczerzen and Virginia Irene (Andruskiewicz) Sczerzen. Bob was educated in the Maynard school system and was a graduate of Maynard High School, Class of ’65.

After high school, Bob enlisted in the National Guard. Following his military service, Bob was employed by Gen Rad Corp in West Concord for several years. His was a familiar face and a warm presence as a custodian at Maynard High School. He served the school until his retirement.

Bob was also a proud member of the Maynard Lodge of Elks, and was a bartender there for many years. Bob was also an avid Boston sports fan, especially the Red Sox and the Patriots. He also enjoyed the great outdoors, hunting and fishing, as well as spending time at his summer home at Old Orchard Beach.

Bobby, as everyone knew him, had a smile, loved a good joke and was always there to help a friend in need. His passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his beloved daughter Amy Sczerzen of Maynard, who took exceptional care of him; his brother Michael Sczerzen and his spouse Robert Johansen of Belfast, ME; cousin Charlie Gilleney of Maynard; and many other cousins who migrated to Wisconsin. He is also survived by his precious cats Kiki and Malice. He was predeceased by his cherished uncle, Joseph Andruskjewicz.
