Obituary for Raymond L. LaRoche Jr.

Raymond L. LaRoche Jr., a longtime resident of Townsend, MA, and a retired Acton Police Officer, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 1st, 2021. He was 62 years of age and the beloved Husband of Carolyn A. (Cosenze) LaRoche.

Ray was born in Newton, MA; son of Raymond L. and Corinne J. (Mollomo) LaRoche. Raised in Acton, MA, he graduated from Acton-Boxborough High School with the class of 1976. He then attended night courses at Northeastern University with his best friend, John Roche, where he studied criminal justice. He went on to the Police Academy in 1980 and served the town of Acton for 21 years. The job suited Ray perfectly; he loved helping people and working with the public.

Ray loved being outdoors with his family and friends. He truly enjoyed it all, especially climbing the Tuckerman Ravine trail and spending time at Lake Winnipesaukee with his longtime friends, Robin and John Roche. Another favorite destination of Ray's was Ogunquit, Maine, where he loved to ride the waves with his children and grandchildren. Additionally, he enjoyed skiing, playing the drums, watching sports, and especially liked watching the Green Bay Packers.

Ray's family was his life. He was a loving husband and passionate father; He never missed any of his children's or grandchildren's games or practices. In addition to the adventures outdoors, Ray and his family enjoyed going out to dinner, especially in the North End. He truly lived in the moment. He often said, "Thank you, God, for a beautiful day." His family, friends, and colleagues will all miss him dearly.

Ray is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn. His three children, Michael LaRoche and his wife Lauren of Princeton, MA, Lauren LaRoche, and her puppy Nala Grace of Townsend, MA, and Michelle Toomey and her husband Steve of Lunenburg, MA. Ray was the loving grandfather of Collin (Grandpa and Collin 4 ever - Best Buddies), Brooklyn, Jackson, and Scarlett. He also leaves his mother, Corinne J. LaRoche, and many extended family and friends. Sadly, he was predeceased by his father Raymond L. LaRoche Sr. and his brother Stephen P. LaRoche.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, May 7th, 2021, from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, in the Acton Funeral Home - 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Route 111) Acton, MA.
