Obituary for Nancy A. (Gentsch) Whitcomb
Nancy A, Whitcomb, 92 died peacefully at her home in Acton, Thursday, February 4th.
Nancy was born March 10th 1928 to the late Anna and Julius Gentsch in Concord, MA. She lived in Maynard MA with her family until she married Peter Whitcomb of Acton, MA in 1956.
Nancy attended and graduated from Fitchburg State College and went on to earn her master’s degree in education from Tufts University graduating the top of her class. She taught elementary school in Concord, MA and became a guidance counselor in the Harvard MA school system. She loved teaching, promoting reading and always took the time to read to all her nieces and nephews when she could.
She and her deceased husband of 60 years Peter, were avid skiers and spent their free time traveling and spending summers at their beloved Hemlock Villa at Fort Pond in Littleton, MA.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews Cindy Uglevich Campobasso and her husband David of Lincoln, MA, Joseph Uglevich, III and his wife Laura of Maynard, MA., Richard Sisson and his wife Peggy of Ashburnham, MA, Pamela Sisson Eddy of Sutton, VT, Cody Sisson and his wife Jeannie of Northfield, MA, and many grand and great grand nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be determined in the future,
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be sent to a charity of their choice.
