Obituary for Mary R. (Jameson) Dolan

Mary Ruth Dolan, 88, passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2023 at St. Patricks Manor in Framingham, MA.

Mary, Marnie to her family and friends, was the youngest of five children born to Mary Loyola Largay Jameson and Louis Mullen Jameson in Bangor, Maine.

Marnie graduated from John Bapst High School and attended Mercy Hospital of Nursing in Portland. As a young woman she was employed by the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company in Bangor.

Marnie was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Neil H. Dolan. When they met he was a just returned Veteran of the Korean War studying for his accounting degree. Every afternoon, for over thirty years, he would say he was going home to his bride as he prepared to leave work. Together they raised five beautiful children in Danvers, MA. Marnie is survived by Nancy Dolan of Shirley, MA, Michael Dolan of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Susan Webb and her husband Ken of Westerly, RI, Mark Dolan and his wife Isabelle of Orlando, FL, and Jane Stevenson and her husband Ben of Sudbury, MA. She was also fortunate to have six grandchildren, Sydney and Neil Dolan, Elle, Coco, and Ruby Stevenson, and Donovan Dolan. She is survived by her sister Sally Hardy of Bangor, ME, and predeceased by three of her siblings, James Jameson, Robert Jameson and Jean Miller.

She enjoyed flowers and gardening and the Sweet Pea was her favorite flower. She and Neil would plant colorful floral beds every spring.

Marnie loved to tell tales of her childhood, she loved the sea, and she loved her home state of Maine. In her stories she was an adventurous Pippi Longstanding type character, exploring the city of Bangor with a cohort of friends and finding light hearted mischief. She delighted in daring her children to jump in the frigid Atlantic as she and her brothers and sisters did when they were young. The backroads of Maine were etched in her heart and she could name all the landmarks that resonated with her and ran repeatedly through her life. In her later years she would seek and find solace by the Maine coast.

Marnie relied on her Catholic faith as a constant guidepost throughout her life with particular devotions to the rosary and the Divine Mercy. The knowledge that she is with her beloved husband Neil, parents and siblings in Heaven brings much comfort to those who loved her.

Lastly, Marnie’s family would especially like to express its heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to her care team at Saint Patrick’s Manor for their steadfast, kind and compassionate support.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, April 24 at 10am at Ascension Parish in Sudbury, MA. A private burial will take place at a later time.
