Obituary for Marie T. (MacDonald) Hollohan

Marie T. (MacDonald) Hollohan, 92, a longtime Maynard resident and formerly of Waltham, MA, died Thursday, March 10, 2022 in Burlington. Affectionately known as “Dee” by her immediate family, she was the beloved wife of the late Gregory J. “Joe” Hollohan, to whom she was married for 64 years at the time of his passing in 2013.

Born in and raised in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Rita (MacNeil) MacDonald. Marie and Joe were married following his honorable service in the US Navy during WWII. The couple lived in Waltham and Watertown for a time before moving to Maynard in 1956, where they raised their sons. Mrs. Hollohan was employed for Raytheon in Waltham, and then as a laser trimmer at the former Hy Comp, an electronics manufacturer in Maynard. Her work involved intricate precision cuts to circuit boards using microscopes and lasers.

The Hollohans loved spending time with their family. They travelled the world! They loved adventures from Safari’s to scaling the Great Wall, exploring the Pyramids and enjoyed many cruises.

Marie is survived by three sons: Hugh Hollohan and wife Karin, Gregory Hollohan II and wife Cindy, and Mark Hollohan; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren: Sean Hollohan, wife Courtney and their children Sydney, Kylee and Conor; Jennifer Hollohan and her children Caleb and Adaya Bravo; Gregory Hollohan III, wife Amanda and their children Lily and Harper; and Eric Hollohan. She is also survived by extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Hugh and John MacDonald.
