Obituary for Marcia E. (Howe) Foley
MAYNARD: Marcia E. (Howe) Foley, a longtime resident of Maynard, passed away peacefully at her home, January 26, 2023. She was 89 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard P. Foley who passed away in 2005.
Marcia was born in Haverhill, MA, daughter of the late Erford and Elizabeth (Regan) Howe. In addition to raising her family, Mrs. Foley worked in food services for the Maynard Public Schools for many years. Marcia had a lifelong love of knitting making beautiful blankets for her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid basketball fan, you could often find her cheering on the Celtics or her favorite college team Duke University. If not basketball, you could also find her watching Wheel of Fortune or Game Show Network. She truly enjoyed her frequent Bingo nights, but there was nothing in the world she loved more than visits from her “babies.” Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, Nana and great “Grape” Nana, as her littlest loves often referred to her as.
Marcia is lovingly survived by her children Michael Foley and his wife Gail, Patricia Hatch, Mark Foley, James “Jim” Foley and his wife Amy, daughter in law Laura Foley, nephews David and Kevin Lyons and niece Jane Sullivan. She was the loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Services and burial to be held in Glenwood Cemetery will be private.
