Cookie was born in Maynard in 1936, the daughter of the late Rosario and Rosina (Terrasi) Salamone. She was a graduate of Maynard High School. She met and married her first love and late husband, of twenty years. Fred Oliver.

She was a beloved mother of Fred Oliver and his wife Christina and Debra Lalli and a devoted grandmother to Jacklyn Oliver, James and Paul Lalli, Savannah Cyr and Chaney, McKenzie, and Kelsey Gaudette. She was also a caring stepmother to Kevin Cyr & wife Sharon, Monique Gaudette & husband Adrian, and Bridget & Christopher Cyr, as well as a cherished aunt and great-aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers and their wives Tony Salamone and Mary, Salvatore Salamone and Ann, Peter Salamone and Tina, sisters Marion Marrella and her husband Steve, Sophie Arena and her husband Pat and Theresa Salamone.

Cookie worked for many years at her family’s very popular grocery store, Salamone’s Market in Maynard, alongside her brothers, sisters-in-law, and parents, and was a friendly and familiar face of the store to the local community. She also worked for several years for Mary’s Catering, where she met her late second husband of 31 years, Rene Cyr.

She loved to travel and was happiest at the beach. She often took her grandchildren on day trips and overnight excursions to Hampton Beach, Salisbury Beach, and Cape Cod, providing them with wonderful memories and experiences. She was frequently found drinking coffee at Dunkin with her many Maynard friends, who were like family to her.

Having family gatherings and making and delivering many of her famous dishes were constant gestures of love and thanks. Several family members and friends and even doctors' offices would receive a plate of her famous anise cookies.
