Obituary for Leonard E. Andexler

LITTLETON: Leonard E. Andexler, 84, of Littleton, MA died peacefully on November 27, 2021. Born on May 28, 1937 in Sebring, Florida, he was the son of the late Ewald and Violet May Edith (Priebe) Andexler. He was the devoted husband of 63 years to Sandra L. (Elso) who died August 31, 2021. He is survived by his seven children: Paul Andexler and wife Aashild of Norway; Debra and husband Rev. Gregory DeMuth of New Prague, MN; Eric Andexler and wife Teresa of Norman, OK; Martin Andexler and wife Lorraine of Enfield, CT; Marla and husband David Arthur Flynn of Bedford, MA; Timothy Andexler of Concord, NC; and Philip Andexler of Littleton, MA. Mr. Andexler is the beloved grandfather of 15 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 5. Mr. Andexler is also survived by a brother, Robert “Bobby” Andexler of Ohio and by many nieces, nephews & their families. He was predeceased by his other siblings.

Mr. Andexler grew up in Brady Lake, Ohio. He often spoke of the good times fishing with his brothers and building and racing his soap box derby car. He worked at M.I.T. as a Senior Nuclear Reactor Operator until his retirement. After retirement he worked at the New England Sports Museum in Boston as he was a huge New England Sports fan.

Mr. Andexler was an avid stamp collector and was a member of the Chelmsford and Waltham Stamp Clubs. He won several awards for his exhibits featuring holograms, space and Mt. Everest. Mr. Andexler was also a space enthusiast. For his 60th birthday his family sent him to the adult NASA Space Camp. Mr. Andexler also volunteered as a Cubmaster and Boy Scout Leader.

Mr. Andexler was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and served as the New England Director of Ongoing Ambassadors for Christ youth ministry.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours (masks respectfully encouraged) on Friday, Dec. 3rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111), Acton. The funeral service (masks required) will be held Saturday, December 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 472 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111), Acton. Interment will be at a later date.
