Obituary for Laura Marie (Cantando) Orsatti

STOW – Laura Marie (Cantando) Orsatti, 89, of Stow Mass. Passed away Sept.17, 2022.

Laura Marie Cantando was born on April 29, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA. She was the youngest of five, the only girl. Laura graduated from an all- girls Catholic High School. She then worked as an executive secretary for five years. Laura married Louis G. Orsatti on February 12, 1955. They had 5 children, Louis, Joseph, Stephen, Linda, and Laura.

Laura became a stay at home Mom. This is when her life as a volunteer began. She volunteered as an aid and librarian at the children’s grammar school. Laura was elected to the Board of the local YMCA. She taught sewing there for many years.

The family moved to Stow in 1976. A week upon her arrival, Laura worked on completion of the Stow Bicentennial Quilt which earned a mention in Ethel B. Childs, History of Stow. The quilt hangs in the Stow Library. Laura was a volunteer at St. Isidore Parish as a religious instructor and Eucharistic minister. Laura made Altar cloths and for many years decorated the church during the holidays. Laura joined The Friends of the Council on Aging board and worked at their fund raising events. Laura hosted a popular High-Tea event for seniors 3 times a year until she retired in her eighties.

Laura has ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She prepared and cooked all the family holiday dinners when the entire Orsatti clan would come to enjoy Grandmom’s cooking.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 22nd from 4:00-7:00PM in the Acton Funeral Home 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rte. 111) Acton. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 23rd at 10:00AM in St. Isidore Parish 429 Great Road Stow. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Stow.

Any memorial tributes can be made in the form of charitable donation to St. Isidore Parish in Stow; the Council on Aging in Stow; or any personal favorite charity.
