Obituary for Joseph P. Cisek

Joseph P. Cisek, 63, of Westborough, formerly of Maynard, passed away on February 1, 2023 at home with his family by his side after a courageous four year battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly forty years, Donna M. (Fenton) Cisek, and his children: David J. Cisek and his husband Ryan F. Meersman, Michael F. Cisek and his wife Caroline E. (Milch) Cisek and their son Thomas M., Andrew I. Cisek and his fiancée Ashleigh N. Kelley, and his pet companions Ted and Weezie. He is also survived by his siblings: Gregory Cisek and his husband Thomas Krick of Schaumburg, Illinois, Frank Cisek and his wife Linda Cisek of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Stephen Cisek and his wife Sally Cisek of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, and Sandra (Cisek) Zeimet and her husband David Zeimet and their son Derek and wife Carrie Zeimet of Wildwood, Illinois. He is predeceased by his brother, Stanley “Scott” Cisek, of Chicago, Illinois. 

Born in Chicago, Illinois to the late Francis and Teresa (Higdon) Cisek, Joe was raised in Mundelein, Illinois. He was a graduate of Mundelein High School Class of 1978 before serving our country in the United States Air Force from 1981 to 1985 as a law enforcement specialist stationed at Chanute AFB in Rantoul, Illinois and Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska. A proud veteran, Joe recounted his time in the armed services with tremendous honor and patriotism. Following his honorable discharge, Joe spent his career in the automotive industry, most notably as the longtime service manager at Cityside Subaru in Belmont. 

Joe will be warmly remembered for his kind and gentle spirit, quick wit, and selfless sense of loyalty and service to his extended family, friends, and many nieces and nephews. His greatest joy in life was his family and they will miss him with all their hearts. 

Calling hours will be held at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue, Rte 111, Acton, on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 1 PM. A public memorial service will immediately follow at 3 PM at the funeral home. A private burial ceremony with military honors for close family and friends will be held at a later date at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire. 

Flowers may be sent or donations may be made in Joe’s name to Homes for our Troops, a non-profit organization dedicated to building and adapting specially designed custom homes for severely injured veterans (www.hfotusa.org).
