Obituary for John C. Kilpatrick

John Cornelius Kilpatrick Jr., (Jack) age 87, a longtime resident of Acton, MA passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 7th, 2022.

Jack was born in Port Chester, NY, graduated from Stepinac High School and the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he participated in both football and track. Jack served in the U.S. Army in the Artillery Division in Kitzingen, Germany and then worked in the defense industry for many years.

Jack was blessed with a wonderful wife and loving family with whom he shared many special family trips, especially their cruises around the Caribbean. He attended as many of his grandchildren’s school and sports activities as he could and supported them in all their endeavors. He shared his lifelong enjoyment of skiing, tennis, and golf with them all.

Jack took special pride in helping his family with a fun and productive variety of home improvement projects.
His friendships in Acton and throughout his West Point Alumni groups were invaluable to him. He loved a good Army/Navy game or a great bridge night, or Coterie dinner or West Point Alumni outing.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn of 64 years, his son Kevin Kilpatrick and wife Caroline, of Massachusetts; along with Kevin’s children Graham and Hayden Kilpatrick and their Mother Meredith Kilpatrick; his daughter Cindy Kilts and her partner Steve of Florida and Cindy’s children Bryan Kilts and his wife Kristina & their son Carter and Lauren Ponce and her husband David & their children Logan & Parker; his daughter Lynne Poegel and her husband Garry of New Hampshire and their children Bradley, Matthew, Jeffrey and Samuel.

Jack enjoyed sharing decades of holidays, travel, and family events with his wife’s twin sister’s family; Irvonne and her husband Gerry Moran and their children, Kyle Moran, Kymberly Moran and Michael Moran and his wife Madeline and their children Sydney, Troy and Nathan. Any extended family of in-laws, out-laws, cousins, steps, and extras were always welcome in Jack’s home.

Jack, Dad, PopPop will be forver loved and remembered as a quiet and strong husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Anne Catholic Church, 75 King Street, (Rte 2A) in Littleton, MA on Saturday September 3, 2022 at 9:00am with a “Celebration of Life” to share fun stories at Il Forno in Littleton at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Jack’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
