Obituary for Joan Grace Priest

Joan Grace Priest, 83, a longtime Acton, MA resident, died peacefully Friday, August 5, 2022 in Fitchburg, MA.

Born in Concord and raised in Acton, she was a graduate of the Acton schools. Prior to her retirement, Joan was employed for 25 years as an office administrator with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Extension Service in Concord, which later became part of the UMass system.

Joan was by nature a creative person. She wrote poetry and her autobiography, enjoyed sewing and music, and learned to play instruments. She had a wonderful singing voice and was a former member of several local choirs, including in the church choir at the South Acton Congregational Church. In later years she was member of the Seeds of Faith Church in Harvard. She liked spending time with family, friends and her neighbors on Windsor Avenue in Acton Throughout her life Joan always shared her home with her beloved cats, most recently with "Sweetie."

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd W. and Dorothy M. (Jones) Priest, and her twin sister Jean E. Priest. She is survived by two sisters, Elaine Davis and her husband James, and Linda Brown and her husband Edmund; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral service on Thursday, August 11th, 2022 at 10:00am in the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave, (Rt 111) Acton. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Central Street, West Acton.
