Jackie Peterson, 56, passed away suddenly at her home in Marlborough, MA on Friday, November 20, 2020.

Born Jackie Comeau in Fitchburg, MA, she attended Fitchburg State University, earning a B.S. in Accounting. Always looking to challenge herself, she had successful careers in Accounting and Computer Technology before reinventing herself again as a Casino Dealer, working at Boston Billiards Club and Casino in Nashua, NH.

An avid poker player herself, Jackie was a force to be reckoned with at the tables, playing in poker rooms and tournaments up and down the East Coast. A 4th place finish in a major Atlantic City tournament in 2013 enabled her to play in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas that summer. Going back to the WSOP had been her goal ever since, and she was leading a small home poker league that would have awarded a 2020 WSOP Main Event seat before the league was suspended due to COVID.

Jackie was an animal lover as well with a strong connection to horses. She had been trained in the healing power of horses, and was looking to apply this training in a future “therapy with horses” role. Jackie was able to connect with horses in a way that not many people were able to do, and she was known in the equine community as a “horse whisperer."

Jackie believed in the rights of horses, especially wild horses. In recent years, she became a strong advocate for the protection of wild horse herds, particularly in the Western United States. Her convictions were so strong that she travelled to Washington D.C. in 2019 to testify to the Bureau of Land Management on the issue.
Jackie’s love of animals extended beyond horses, as at the time of her passing, she and her husband had two rescue cats, two rescue parakeets and one lovebird she had hand raised.

Jackie is survived by her husband of 3 years, Gary S. Peterson, her sister Pauline Comeau and her mother Florence (Cormier) Comeau. She was preceded by her father Delphis Comeau and her brothers Rene and Ricky Comeau.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday December 6th from 1:00-3:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue, (Rte 111) Acton. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed. Attendance at the funeral home service is private, however all are welcome to watch the service live stream on Monday December 7th at 1:00pm via the following Tribucast link:
