Gregory R. Osche, 78, of Acton, Massachusetts, passed away on April 2, 2021. Born May 26, 1942 in Butler, PA., Greg grew up in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He graduated from Red Bank Catholic HS in 1960 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Villanova University in 1964. Greg served in the Navy and Naval Reserve after college, finishing his military service with the rank of Lieutenant. He received a doctorate in physics from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1975.

Greg and Susan Jose were married in 1974. They relocated to Acton where they raised their kids and have resided ever since. Greg worked as a physicist for Raytheon for 24 years before retiring in 2003. He loved tinkering with theoretical physics and optics, and attempting to solve decades old equations that no one had solved before. After retiring, he published a well-received book on lasers, and numerous papers his family has yet to be able to understand.

Greg loved to drive fast. After years of evading speeding tickets, he took to the racetrack and spent the last 15 years of his life perfecting his line, finding the apex of the corner and the aerodynamics of his beloved Porsche. He was especially proud to be an instructor for Porsche Club of America.

Rarely straying far from the ocean, Greg and Susan started sailing back in the 70’s and took their family on numerous sailing adventures over the years. Eventually he rediscovered fishing, and spent many summers exploring the waters of Cape Cod in search of The Big One. Tennis was a mainstay over the years. A competitive amateur, Greg played weekly for decades and served on the board of the Acton Indoor Tennis Association.

Greg is predeceased by his parents, Pearl G. Osche & Ralph A. Osche, and survived by his sister Carole O. (husband Donald) Dell of Maryland. He leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Susan, as well as son Christopher J. (wife Krista) of CA; and his daughter Elizabeth C. (wife Michelle) Osche of MA, all of who miss him terribly. He took great joy in spending time with his four granddaughters, Maya C., Lindsey C., Alexa E. and Phoebe L. Osche. To them, Pops was always there for puzzles, swings, walks, waffles, donuts, and scientific explanations. He is lovingly remembered by families of Ashes, Daddonos, Dells, Georges, and Swikarts.

A memorial service will be planned for the summer.

I am so very sorry to hear of Greg’s passing - he was such a sweet caring man, with a gentle soul. He was always someone I loved to see at his routine dental visits in Acton.
He loved taking about his family - especially his grandchildren and his fast car - even showing me picture of it.
Susan and family I am so deeply sorry for your loss
Thinking of you all

Mr.Osche was one of those people that you would want to be on your team. He was thoughtful and has that unassuming manner that always make you feel like you are being heard. His ability to listen more and talk less is what make him such an admirable person. He was an asset to AITA and I will miss him dearly. I'm sorry for your great loss.
