Obituary for G. Helen (Kenney) Berrigan

Beloved wife, cherished mother and loving grandmother

G. Helen (Kenney) Berrigan age 85, a longtime resident of Acton, passed away peacefully after brief illness at her home on August 31, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Helen was born on October 17,1937 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was the daughter of the late Reginald R. and Margaret (Munro) Kenney and sister of the late Lorne Kenney.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Maurice Berrigan, daughters and their spouses, Jan and Tom Miller, Brenda and Bruno McKenzie, Roseann and Craig Merwitzer, 6 grandchildren Justin, Alix, Kate-Lynn, Mark, Grant, Julia, siblings James “Jim” Kenney, Doreen Parnell, Thelma Blinn.

Helen was raised in Nova Scotia and came to the United States at the age of 21. A graduate of Children’s Hospital of Halifax, she worked as a registered nurse at McLean Hospital where she met her husband Maurice. She worked as a corporate registered nurse at Digital and Ametek Aerospace. She enjoyed volunteering at The Cornerstone Thrift Store and teaching her ice skating students. She was an active member of Acton Congregational Church. She loved many trips with her family. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. Her jokes, high energy, quick wit and caring nature will be profoundly missed.

A wake will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday September 7 at Acton Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery, Acton, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at the Acton Congregational Church, 12 Concord Road, Acton.
