Francis J. (Frank) Larkin, of Acton, formerly of Brighton, age 86, died at his home Tues. Jan. 5, 2021 after a battle with cancer. Loving husband to Elaine (Hopson) with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Devoted father to Janet O’Shea and husband Jim of Bolton, Alison Berryman and husband Russell of Chelmsford, and Mary Larkin and husband Benjamin Podsiadlo of Maynard. Proud grandfather to James, Katherine, Will and the late Charlotte O’Shea, Violet and Adam Berryman, and Patrick Quinlan. Brother of Thomas of Falmouth, William of Marblehead, and the late Mary Robinson and Madeleine Loan. Also survived by many nephews & nieces.

Frank was a graduate of Boston College & Northeastern University, and was a veteran of the US Army where he served in the 4th Infantry. Frank was a dedicated volunteer to the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and was a member of the Dorchester Yacht Club. An avid boater, he enjoyed cruising the Boston Harbor with his family. He had his Captain’s license, taught boating safety classes and wrote two books about coastal navigation.
