MAYNARD, Massachusetts — Frances "Fran" Mae Donahue, 89, died in hospice care on Jan. 7, 2023. Born in Medford in 1933, she lived in Malden. For many years Fran was employed at the Malden hospital as an operating room technician.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Joseph. She is survived by her children, Richard of Nevada City, California, Robert of Acton, and Kathleen of Laconia, New Hampshire. She and Joe shared seven grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Fran spent most of her retirement years in West Alton and Gilford, New Hampshire. As a strong advocate for the elderly, Fran was a volunteer in the Caregiver Network. She was recognized for her dedication and commitment to this organization, and she received the prestigious Vaughan Award from then Gov. John Lynch. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, walking, swimming and, later, yoga with friends.
Recently, she moved to Maynard, to Camellia Gardens senior retirement home. Here, she enjoyed the friendship of many.
