Obituary for Edward Kelly Sr.

Edward Leo Kelly, Sr., 92, of Acton, formerly of Arlington, died peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023, in the presence of family.

He was a graduate of Arlington High School and a long-time employee of New England Telephone Company. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Kelly was the beloved husband of Margaret P. (Reardon) Kelly, who died in 1997. He was the devoted father of seven daughters, Ann M. Mullen (Alvin) of Walpole, Carol A. Kelly (Jack McWilliams) of Lowell, Elaine M. Dudley (Jeffrey) of Vancouver, WA, Barbara A. Carter (Brooks) of Worcester, Margaret M. Kelly of Leominster, Patricia A. Angell of Littleton, Kathleen M. Gargas of Maynard; two sons, Edward L. Kelly, Jr. (Yvonne) of Leominster and Paul M. Kelly of Derry, NH; and the much loved “Grumpy” to 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers, James J. Kelly, Paul F. Kelly, Robert Kelly, and Donald R. Kelly. He is survived by his sister, Barbara A. Hickey of Reading, a sister-in-law, Phyllis L. Kelly of Wellesley, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 18 at 10AM at St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival Street, Maynard, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 104 Concord Road, Acton. Visiting hours are Friday from 3 -7 p.m. at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass. Ave. (Rte 111), Acton.
