Obituary for Edward H. Howard Jr.

On Sunday, July 31, 2022 Edward H. Howard Jr of Acton and former owner of Ed’s Weenies
in Littleton Massachusetts passed away at the age of 79 at home, leaving behind his friend,
Tom Fisher.

Edward was born on July 14, 1943 in Boston to Edward and Olive Howard. After his
mother’s death when Edward was a young boy, his father married Louise (Bishop) who
later birth to Edward’s brother, John Steven Howard who preceded him in death. Also
preceding Edward in death was longtime friend, Thomas C Chappell.
Edward grew up in Acton and was a 1961 graduate from Acton High School. He also lived
in New York, New Jersey and Texas during his time working in Retail Management. Edward
returned to Acton where he renovated his childhood home, a huge source of pride and
craftsmanship where he loved to entertain friends and coworkers alike.

After his retirement from Retail, Edward started a successful small business in Littleton,
Ed’s Weenies. Ed embraced the town of Littleton as they grew to embrace him and
volunteered to serve many local events. He always loved to see his regulars and welcome
the new customers to the stand. Ed’s Weenies was featured on WCVB Channel 5's Five for
Good during the ‘Books for Kids’ campaign that raised thousands of dollars for Littleton
Public School libraries.

His lifelong love of music led him to the Nashoba Valley Chorale where he was a member
and former President. During his tenure as President, the chorale grew to over 100
members and put on major works with an orchestra and professional soloists.

Friends may gather at his Celebration of Life on September 17th at 11am. The memorial will
take place at Trinity Episcopal Church in Concord Massachusetts with a reception to follow
in the Church Hall.
