Obituary for Dorothy (Hoffman) Fenton
Dorothy (Dot) Fenton, 92, of Maynard, formerly of Acton, passed away on April 27, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.
Dot was born in Maynard to John and Irene (Miller) Hoffman. She was a graduate of Maynard High School Class of 1948.
She is survived and will be so very missed by her children, Linda Allen of Fernandina Beach, FL, James Fenton of Acton, MA, Dennis (Nancy) Fenton, of La Mesa, CA, David (Carol) Fenton of Panama City Beach, FL, Kathleen (Stephen) Schad of Harvard, MA, Judith Fenton of Maynard, MA, Dorothy (James) Leeber of Acton, MA, Donna Cisek of Westborough, MA, and Barbara McSweeney of West Boylston, MA, as well as twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Dot is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Sullivan of Dunedin, FL, and Robert Hoffman of Sandwich, MA. She will be missed by Babe and Lola, her devoted (and spoiled) dogs. Dot is predeceased by her brother John Hoffman, and beloved family members Brian Allen, Carol Fenton, Crystal Fenton, Christy Fenton, Charles Moulton, Frank McSweeney and Joseph Cisek.
Dot was a longtime employee of First National grocery stores before beginning a more than twenty-year career with Digital Equipment Corporation. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, generosity, and sense of humor. Dot loved to travel, was always ready to throw a party, and will be remembered as a second mom to many.
Calling hours will be held at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue, Acton, on Monday, May 1, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Bridget’s Church, One Percival Street, Maynard. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
