Obituary for Dolores Irene "Del" (Brindle) Covey

Dolores Irene (Brindle) Covey, 96, of Maynard, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Dolores or fondly referred to as “Del” was predeceased by her husband of 70 years Stuart McLeod Covey in 2019 and her son Scott Covey, USMC retired. She is survived by daughter Donna Morrissey, her husband Stephen and their daughter Heather Nichols, her husband Nathan and their children Parker and Sophia Nichols; daughter Kristyn Ward, her husband Randal, their children Payton, Brynn and Ellura Ward; and daughter Dorene Schultz and her husband Martin. She also leaves her long time best friend Jean Haynes.
Dolores was born in Cranston, RI, daughter of the late Roland and Edna (Johnson) Brindle. She has resided in Maynard for over 50 years, and along with Judy Hill started the “Help Program” in Maynard. She spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader and devoted most of her free time assisting other residents locally. She was a proud mother and took great pride raising her family and caring for their home along with her husband Stuart.
Dolores was very passionate about her community and was always willing to help others in need of compassionate care and assistance when needed. She enjoyed times spent with family and remained very active in her later years, even an occasional adventure on an “ATV” in her 80’s with her best friend, Jean Haynes, was not out of the realm of activities she enjoyed. Memories of a loving, caring, funny, and giving spirit will be cherished by all who loved and knew her.
