Obituary for Diane (Wetmore) Tyler

Diane (Wetmore) Tyler
September 15, 1938 – June 2, 2021

Diane passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
She was predeceased by her husband of many years.
She leaves behind 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and respective spouses as well as aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She attended Westbrook Junior College in Maine. As a mother, and homemaker, she wore many hats. She ran a small cleaning service, was a nanny, and taught English as a second language to Japanese students. She also was active in various community and Catholic organizations and activities including her local parishes in Maynard, MA as well as in Foley, AL where she originally retired. Her volunteering and charities included Legion of Mary at St. Bridget’s Church, Maynard, Girl Scouts, the Will Dodd (now Maynard) Boys & Girls Club, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and numerous Catholic Charities. She enjoyed knitting and was involved in the Prayer Shawl Ministry at her beloved assisted living.

While presented with many health challenges, she persevered. At the age of 6 years old she contracted polio and was bedridden for two years. She maintained that she far surpassed the life span expectation of the medical professionals and was very proud of that. She married young and had 5 children whom she adored. She had a great fondness for adventure, travels, and nature, especially greyhounds and horses. During retirement, she traveled though out the USA including Alaska and a special trip to Jerusalem.

During more recent years, she returned to Massachusetts to be closer to her children and developed deeper relationships which brought her great peace.

She will be remembered dearly for her kind-hearted generosity and ability to persevere through her solid Catholic faith, Grace of the Lord, and her wonderful sense of humor.

There will be no services.
