Obituary for Carolyn Marie (Zoglio) Matson

Carolyn Marie (Zoglio) Matson of Acton, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the age of 66.

Carol is survived by her husband Mark and their two sons, David and Ben, her sister Ellen and brother-in-law Frank Ducharme, sister Judy and brother-in-law Ed Block, sister-in-law Diane Smith, and sister-in-law Janet and brother-in-law Carl Kuebler. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol grew up in Medford and graduated from the Lawrence Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She also earned both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and a Master of Science Degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Northeastern University.

She loved being a nurse and helping others, especially the less fortunate, volunteering at the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans. She enjoyed working at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford.

Carol was a devoted wife and mother. Her family was the center of her life. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed hosting large family gatherings. Dancing, gardening, traveling, and bicycling were other passions. Carol organized many activities for her family and neighbors, from Halloween and birthday parties to apple-picking trips and hay rides.

Carol was deeply loved by her family and many friends for her compassion and kindness. Please join us to celebrate her life on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. Visiting hours are from 10:00am – 12:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rte 111) Acton. A church service will follow at 12:30pm at the Acton Congregational Church, 12 Concord Road, Acton. Masks are required for the safety of all. Church capacity is extremely limited, so people are encouraged to take advantage of the Tribucast live stream to watch the service.
