Life Story for Carolyn A. (West) Turner
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother

Carolyn A. (West) Turner, 89, a long time Acton resident, MA died Friday April 3, 2020 in Concord, MA.

Carolyn was born in Brookline, MA, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Amber West. She was married for 61 years to Maj. George W. Turner, US Army Retired. A graduate of Brookline High School and Fisher Junior College, she began her work career as a court reporter and then years later spent many years as an organist for several local churches.

As a military wife, Carolyn spent many years stationed in different US states and also in Italy and France before retiring back to Acton in 1966. Carolyn enjoyed playing both the piano and organ. Reading books was also a favorite pastime. She would try a wide variety of books; she always wanted to expand her mind.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter Pamela Shuttle of Acton; grandson Jason Shuttle and wife Beth of Millis, MA; granddaughter Stephanie Shuttle and her partner Stephen Miller of Acton; great-grandchildren Jacob Shuttle of Millis, and Ruthie and Rhys Miller of Acton. She is also survived by special "daughter friend" Nancy Martin of Pelham, NH; an honorary granddaughter Kerry Towell of Leominster, MA; and nephews, nieces and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband George E. Turner, their son Russell Mark "Rusty" Turner, and siblings Alan R. West and Jean M. Wetmore.

Services with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Acton Center, are private.

My condolences to all of ‘Aunt’ Carolyn’s loved ones on her passing. She was my cousin by marriage and I am Pam’s second cousin. It has been nearly 50 years since 8 last visited George and Carolyn. Those are fond memories of times past. Please, all of you know that you are not alone in your time of grief and sorrow.
