Obituary for Carol J. (Swiderski) Pomfret

Maynard, MA

Carol J. (Swiderski) Pomfret, 74, a longtime Maynard, MA resident, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA. She leaves her beloved husband of over 50 years, Stephen T. Pomfret of Maynard.

Carol was born and raised in Salem, MA, the daughter of the late Alexander and Pearl (Weston) Swiderski and was a graduate of Salem High School. She spent many years working at the Maynard Public Library as well as clerical positions in the medical field and retired as a billing clerk for Emerson Hospital. She was a member of the Massachusetts Audubon Society, the Peabody Essex Museum, and a member of St. Bridget’s Church in Maynard, part of the Ascension Parish.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Stephanie Pomfret-Duggan of Maynard, MA, and Julie Lavelle and husband Michael of Culver City, CA, her son Matthew Pomfret and wife Jill of Sunland, CA, her five grandchildren, Ashley E., Justin L. and Kaitlyn N. Duggan, Abigail G. Lavelle and Cameron S. Pomfret, and her beloved beagle Toby. She was predeceased by two sisters Patricia Donovan and Eileen Doyle, both of Salem, MA, and is survived by her two other sisters Jean Melota and her husband Joseph of Peabody, MA, and Sandra Ward of Salem, MA, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Carol had many hobbies and enjoyed painting, sketching, pastel drawing and working with stained glass. She became quite an accomplished artist. In her spare time, she was also an avid bird watcher, animal lover, and flower gardener, enjoyed reading and listening to jazz, and she cherished any time she could spend with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and protocol, social distancing and mandatory facial masks are required. All are invited to join the family for Carol’s funeral Mass on Saturday, March 27th at 10:00am in St. Bridget’s Church, 1 Percival St, Maynard. Burial will be private in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Great Rd, (Rte 117) Maynard.
