Obituary for Beverly Sisk Olsen
Beverly Sisk Olsen, age 84, passed away on August 13, 2022 surrounded by beloved family.
Born in 1938 to Evelyn (Hanson) Sisk and Reverend Joseph A. Sisk, Beverly spent her early childhood in Newton, Massachusetts before moving with her family to Suffield, Connecticut. She graduated from The MacDuffie School and then studied voice at Skidmore College. After a year of nurse’s training Beverly continued on her adventures, becoming a stewardess for Pan American Airlines - traveling the world, speaking French, and modeling.
Beverly married in 1959 and moved with her husband Brian to Bangor, Maine. There, she hosted a variety television show - charming her guests and entertaining her audiences with humor and song. Beverly and her husband were blessed in the coming years with four children and eventually settled in Acton, Massachusetts.
Athletic and creative, Beverly enjoyed many pursuits over her lifetime including basketball, tennis, painting, cooking, sewing, and knitting. She played Bridge, a mean Gin Rummy, and had a vocabulary to beat the band.
Though being part of an Air Force family meant several moves early in her marriage, Beverly made lifelong friends along the way. She always found a church home, and brought her faith, love, and soprano wherever she went. She rescued animals, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and made sure no one was ever alone for Christmas.
Life brought its struggles, but Beverly showed her family the power of faith, forgiveness, compassion, and perseverance. All who knew her will miss her generous spirit and ability to find joy in the little things in life.
Beverly leaves behind her son James Olsen; daughter Karen Chiklakis and her husband Bill; grandchildren Elena and Christopher Chiklakis; brother Barry Sisk; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Robert, daughter Kristen, and former husband Brian.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, October 22 at the Acton Funeral Home, from 1:00 - 2:15 pm; a Celebration of Life will follow beginning at 2:30 pm. All are welcome. The Acton Funeral Home is located at 470 Massachusetts Ave, Acton, MA 01720.
