Anthony C. Maria
1942 ~ 2022

Tribute from son, Paul Maria
"This morning, we lost our beloved father Anthony. "Doc" passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife, children, brother and sister-in-law. A life-long resident of Maynard, our father loved the town he called home for every one of his 79 years. The son of an Italian immigrant, he was proud of his heritage but prouder still of his country. He instilled this in his children. Dad taught us to fish. He taught us to drive. He taught us to work hard for everything in life. He taught us that blood will always be thicker than water and to always honor our family. He was an example for his sons on how to treat a woman and demonstrated to his daughter the best example of what a man, a father, a husband should be. He was a man of few words but when he spoke you listened. He had a unique sense of humor and would often play practical jokes on the ones he loved. My mother was the brunt of many of them because she was the person he loved most on this earth. He devoted 100% of himself to his wife and children and always put us first. We will miss him dearly, we already do. My father is at peace now. He is without pain, without fear, without worry, without hardship. He now walks with God and I know we will see him again some day. Until that day comes, know that we love you Dad."

Anthony C. Maria, 79, a lifelong Maynard, MA resident, died peacefully on February 18, 2022. Born in Concord, he was the son of the late Calogero C. and Mary Sue (Scaltrito) Maria. Mr. Maria graduated from the Maynard schools and completed classes and certificate programs at UMass, Framingham State, and Bentley University in Waltham. Employed for 27 years at General Motors, he was also a real estate appraiser and was most well known as an assessor for the Town of Maynard for many years before retiring.

Mr. Maria was first and foremost a family man. He loved his family and was loyal to them above all else, and was most happy and proud when they were all together. He is also remembered as a gentle man who was very generous, especially to those who needed help.

He is survived by his wife, Noella A. (Dionne) Maria, with whom he was to celebrate 56 years of marriage on June 10th; their children Paul A. Maria of Maynard, Matthew C. Maria and wife Carrie of Gilmanton, NH, and Danielle D. Sullivan and husband Paul of Stoughton; his grandchildren, Olivia L. and Brynn Y. Maria, and William T. and Rosalie A. Sullivan; his brother Martin Maria and wife Sarah of Acton; and generations of nieces, nephews and their families. He was the beloved brother and brother-in-law to the late Jeanne L. and John Enneguess.

Relatives and friends are invited to public visiting hours on Thursday, February 24th from 10:00am-12:00pm. Services and interment in St. Bridget's Cemetery will be held privately for the family.

In honor of his kind and generous spirit, the family suggests that people do something positive in his memory, taking a moment to give to others by a hug, listening to a story, being kind, and helping those who are in need.
